I have no doubt it is a mistake. Gemini missions were in no way any kind of shuttle flights but in fact flights to test and learn the then very new techniques to fly to the moon and back, including rendezvous, docking and space walking. Funny how these people at NASA don't even know their own history. I have encountered that before at some events I've been to. I appreciate your efforts to make these great historical photos available to the public.

Thanks for the info Douglas it's good to chat with some one who has a clear knowledge on NASA, I will contact them and inquire more on this, thanks.

Nevertheless, the program was over in 1966, and the proposed "Big Gemini" never happened, and have nothing to do with the missions you have pictures of.

Thank you for the update Douglas, The titles are written verbatim from NASA, but you do have a very concise knowledge on the NASA missions. If this has been recorded incorrectly by NASA please let them know it could be a miss print by NASA staff.

Cool picture Buzz took here...but, why is the word "shuttle" in the title?
Vintage Collectables replied:
Thanks for the comment Shuttle is in all the Gemini titles Because: In 1969, McDonnell-Douglas proposed a "Big Gemini" that could have been used to shuttle up to 12 astronauts to the planned space stations in the Apollo Applications Project (AAP).
