Carpet with the arms of Rogier de Beaufort, Turenne and De Comminges (track), anonymous, ca. 1376 - ca. 1378
Fragment of a tapestry. On blue ground in white, red, yellow, light and dark brown and black pattern made of diamond-shaped figures formed by four storks, alternatively with the beaks and feet facing each other. Within these windows is a crenellated castle with three towers, the extremes of which winged angels emerge which together hold a crown above the head of a deer, elephant or unicorn. Above the crown is in a five-petalled rose alternately arranged the arms of Turenne (banned from gold and throat) and Rogier de Beaufort (field of silver with six in a wreath placed flowers throat and a sloping beam of glaze). The animals wear inside the wall to the neck snared a weapon alternately quartered, 1 and 4 of Turenne, 2 and 3 of Rogier de Beaufort and shared one of Turenne and Rogier de Beaufort, 2 Comminges (throat 4 to a star ranking almonds silver) loaded with four shields of Turenne. These weapons can only belong to Guillaume Rogier de Beaufort, vicomte de Turenne et Seigneur D'Alais, who was married to El�onore de Comminges. The shield of Turenne was made by the weaver wrongly gold and throat; ought to be of the silver and throat.
